If you own an iPhone, or even if you do not and read tech blogs, you must have noticed some hype about Clear App.
What The Clear App Is About?
In one sentence:
Clear App is a simplified approach at to-do lists
Simplified means that there are no buttons at all in the app. It has been designed from ground up to make use of gestures. You use swipes, pinches and touch to navigate.
Currently, the app is selling for an introductory price of $0.99 on the app store. You might want to check it out if you are interested in new apps, specially iphone apps.
Honestly, I am quite used to the normal button based interface. For now, I am finding it a bit hard to settle with the user interface, but I am willing to give it a try.

How To Use Clear App
When you launch the app for first time, you are given a small tutorial. It walks you through almost everything you need to use the app.
Basically, here’s all that you need to know to use this iphone app:
- Pull the list down or touch blank space to create a new item or list.
- Pinch to go one level up.
- Touch to edit.
- Swipe right to mark as complete.
- Swipe left to complete.
Is This iPhone App Worth The Hype?
Now, that’s a difficult question to answer. And frankly, it depends on what kind of user you are.
If you are like me, who likes experimenting and simplicity, this app is definitely worth a try.
However, if you’d prefer to stick to the normal to do apps or even iOS’s default Reminders app, you’d better do that.
The thing is that while the design is good, there are some problems with it. First, there are no notifications. So, forget if you were thinking about getting reminders from the app. The most that app can do is display a badge.
The heatmap is a nice feature. It shows the important tasks at top(you have to arrange!) so that you can focus on them.
Also, there’s no notice in app about creating new items. Remember that you have to pull the list down to create new items one the list is full.

What Others Are Saying?
While the ratings for app are good (4.5/5 from 482 people), the reviews are negatives. Apparently, users are confused as the following reviews from the iTunes app page show:
Product is confusing and doesn’t do much. Waste of time. Revolutionary design – far from it – Sumg
In short, all style, some substance, and some substance abuse. There are much better list and to do apps than this, though it’s simplicity is somewhat nice. – Joe Kohlmann
Should You Get It?
Based on current version and reviews + my personal use, I’d suggest to skip the app. It is trying to change many things and while tech blogs are giving it good coverage, I did not like it as a normal user.
I’d suggest sticking with the Reminders app and instead, get Gangstar Rio: City of Saints which is on sale for $0.99 right now.
